The United States Mint has placed its final order for penny blanks and will cease production of the coin once this last batch is completed, the Treasury Department confirmed on Thursday.
Currently, it costs approximately 3.69 cents to make a single penny.
President Donald Trump announced in February that he was ordering his administration to end production of the coin, citing government waste. more
SAVE THOSE PENNIES!!
THEY MAY DOUBLE IN VALUE IN 15-20 YRS
Zinc and copper make an excellent thermite when mixed with one other other chemical. That is one thing that Obama pennies exceed the value of the coin for explosives. Outside of that, the Obama copper plated zinc isn’t worth shit. F.U. Barry, your shitless coins are worth more than a rail joint!
…so unless everything is rounded to the nearest 5 cents, the only way it will be possible to pay for things is with SOME form of tracable digital currency, be it a credit card, debt card, PayPal, whatever, ALL of which leave a trail to everything you purchase, and ALL of which can be controlled or denied by political influences.
Well played, Deep State.
Well played indeed.
The FED destroyed the purchasing power of the dollar, making the penny unaffordable. END THE FED!!!!!!
Meanwhile the government keeps chasing nickels wth dollars…
I seem to remember reading that it takes 2.5 cents to make a penny. It costs 7 cents to make a nickel. If I pay most contractors cash I’ll get a discount. There’s no question the feds not problematic. But they don’t have jack shit to do with this.
“…so unless everything is rounded to the nearest 5 cents”
Yea well I have drawers full of the fucking things. One drawer of my roll around is chalked full from where I dump my pockets after getting to work. Yes please, round up. Get rid of the nickel too.
I was planning to provide my .02¢ worth of intellect but I suspect it ain’t worth a plug nickel.
They took gold out of U.S. coins ninety-two years ago. They took the last silver out of U.S. coins fifty-four years ago. The took the pennies out of U.S. coins minus one years ago. No more haul penny for our progeny.

There was a period during the late Roman Empire when the Empire wouldn’t accept Roman money for the payment of taxes (due to devaluation).
Looks like we’re headed in the same direction.

I remember when “penny candy” in the gumball machines was solid. Then they started making them hollow, slowly thinning the shells more and more each year. The good stuff was moved to nickel and dime machines, then quarters.
Finally, the establishments that had them at their store fronts just gave up and stopped using them.
I have a few steel pennies from WWII.
So now my thoughts are worthless?
“A nickel for your thoughts” just doesn’t have the same ring to it.
Yes, our government admits it loses money on each penny it mints. But they plan to make it up on volume.
The phrase a penny saved is a penny earned is no longer valid. Or if you pick up a penny on the ground all the day you’ll have good luck.
Eliminate all paper money and re-designate the cent as a dollar. Then it can be made of copper again, for a while. If the democrts are able to thwart Trump and DOGE that is where we will be anyway.
All of our coins have been debased. Nickles feel like plastic monopoly money. It doesn’t give a nice jingle in your pocket, and there is no weight to them. Just another step taken by TPTB to steer us towards a cashless society.
This is going to impact Spatula City, where you can buy one spatula and get a second one for just one penny!
Is it just my imagination, or did they start making pennies and dimes a little thinner in the last few years.
The Spatula City fake commercial on Rush’s radio show was one of my favorites along with the Barnacle Brothers commercial.
3.69 cents to make a penny is the most efficient thing the FedGov does.
