MJA/SNS, in the past I’ve seen claims (there really are no “studies” as in controlled scientific experiments or even retrospective surveys for obvious reasons) that castration doesn’t work for the reasons you’ve stated.
My impression is that a lot of this was put out by feminist academia, further to claims that all rape is about “violence” (control, patriarcchy, etc.) not “sex”.
I could be wrong but I don’t buy it for the reason that in cultures/countries that cut off thieves’ hands, it IS a deterrent. Same with more draconian punishments of other kinds.
