Rwanda And Congo Sign Peace Agreement In Washington

WASHINGTON/PARIS/KINSHASA (Reuters) – Rwanda and Democratic Republic of Congo signed a U.S.-brokered peace agreement on Friday, raising hopes for an end to fighting that has killed thousands and displaced hundreds of thousands more so far this year.

The agreement marks a breakthrough in talks held by the administration of U.S. President Donald Trump, which also aims to attract billions of dollars of Western investment to a region rich in tantalum, gold, cobalt, copper, lithium, and other minerals.

At a ceremony with U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio at the Department of State, the two countries’ foreign ministers signed the agreement pledging to implement a 2024 deal that would see Rwandan troops withdraw from eastern Congo within 90 days, according to a version initialled by technical teams last week and seen by Reuters. more

  1. 30 years of barbaric violence seems to be coming to an end. Thank you and well done to Secretary Rubio and President Trump.

Plus: it’s a poke in Xi’s eye, too. The CCP had great plans for the region’s natural resource goodies.

  2. …I also just read that Little Kim is planning a resort to attract tourists’ dollars along NoKo’s “Big, Beautiful” coast. This was something Trump thought would be good for them while he visited during his first term.

  3. Staying at a NORK resort just might be pretty nice. The staff is likely to be absolutely perfect and accommodating to your every desire because if you complain to management they’re taken out and shot.

  4. AbigailAdams, great clip from a great vintage “romcom” I always enjoyed watching, even as a kid.
That statement by Cary Grant’s character has got to be President Trump’s philosophy to a “T”. Trump outmaneuvered the CCP who have been manipulating and stealing from black African nations for a long time. Now, Rwanda and the Congo have more autonomy thanks to President Trump. They seem relieved and greatful for the opportunity.

  5. “Rocket Man” Kim Jong Un idolizes President Trump – quiet as it’s kept. If Kim wasn’t a communist they would probably be fast friends and business partners.
