May You Find Endless Summers, Brian Wilson

CBS

Brian Wilson, the Beach Boys’ visionary and fragile leader whose genius for melody, arrangements and wide-eyed self-expression inspired “Good Vibrations,” “California Girls” and other summertime anthems and made him one of the world’s most influential recording artists, has died, his family said in a statement posted to his website and social media. He was 82.

“We are heartbroken to announce that our beloved father Brian Wilson has passed away,” the family said in Wednesday’s statement. “We are at a loss for words right now. Please respect our privacy at this time as our family is grieving. We realize that we are sharing our grief with the world.” More

  1. I read the first thread 0n his passing. Couldn’t bring myself to participate. This guy was a musical genius. He made Micheal Jackson look like a joke. As a white artist you know you’re good when all the black performers are begging you to produce them. The dude had some demons. But don’t we all.

  2. Brian Wilson will long be remembered for his music, and in so doing he has achieved a measure of immortality. Most of us pass from living memory when the grandchildren die.

  3. Saw them in Anaheim 7/3/76, Brian was there for the bicentennial performance.
Next time was pure serendipity, I was in San Diego accompanying my wife on a company trip.
Got a tag along ticket pretty cheap so I went.
The Beach boys were playing next door at an adjacent hotel on Shelter Is. The wife and I joked it was the Beach Boy, only one was left. Didn’t see them, heard them just fine as we luxuriated in a heated pool, all by ourselves.
    Best concert ever.

  4. Pet Sounds, like Abbey Road which followed a few years later, amazed my young brain. They are lifetime favorites. I’ve also enjoyed MJ’s Thriller through the years and fail to understand how trashing the artist with the highest selling album in music history somehow translates into musical acuity.

  5. Brian dogs Hillary for using illicit E-Mail server

    ‘Licit server ‘licit One
Caused Hill’s bid to be undone
    Did you wipe it
    Did you Server Girl

    Hide E-mails in bathroom stall
Seems you think you’re above the law
Do you think so, do you Server Girl
Server Girl my ‘licit Server Girl

You can’t hide this breach forever
    Though they’ll let you go
Even if Comey says, “no intent”
    EVERYONE WILL KNOW

So I say from me to you
I don’t think you speak the truth
Did you rub it, did you Server ….
