Antarctica
Between 2021 and 2023, Antarctic ice gained mass at a rate of approximately 108 metric tons per year, driven by anomalous precipitation accumulation. (1)
Mass changes across the Antarctic ice sheet have been detected using satellite gravimetry, revealing significant instabilities in major basins of East Antarctica as well as across the entire ice sheet. (2)
Previous studies have consistently shown a long-term trend of mass loss, particularly in West Antarctica and the Antarctic Peninsula, while glaciers in East Antarctica appeared relatively stable. However, the recent study has found a surprising shift: between 2021 and 2023, the AIS experienced a record-breaking increase in overall mass. Notably, four major glaciers in the Wilkes Land-Queen Mary Land region of East Antarctica reversed their previous pattern of accelerated mass loss from 2011 to 2020 and instead showed significant mass gain during the 2021 to 2023 period. (3)
Another paper calculated that around 2,546 gt of ice has been added every year since 1960 to the surface on Antarctica. (4) This would certainly have been enough to stabilize any natural losses and it is possible that the ice sheet has been stable or even growing slowly over this period. (5)
Wouldn’t all this good news be worth reporting on the news? Not so far. (6). more
We all know how this works:
More ice than last year: Catastrophic Climate Change!!!
Less ice than last year: Catastrophic Climate Change!!!
Same ice as last year: Catastrophic Climate Change!!!
Only cure is give up your rights, freedom, property, and income to the global jet setters who are “saving the planet” from our “selfishness”.
Well, it is a bit difficult to believe in “climate change” when the same group of ‘headline grabbers’ don’t fully understand the difference between a male and a female.
Same water, just in a different state.
In this instance it’s the 51st…
Yea, that’s because of global warming or something. You should be very worried things seem normal.
Babylon Bee’s 5-31 headline, Furious Al Gore seen blowing hair dryer at ice caps to stop them from regrowing.
OT, just got home after an ass kicking day for an old man. Wife’s watching Hannity and he’s showing footage of the mol tav cocktail throwing muztard arguing with people as he throws lit bottles at the crowd. ONE CCW could have stopped this quick. But Colorado. If you get a chance watch it. Unbelievable. Colorado limp wristed law makers need to be tarred and feathered
I saw that figure of “108 metric tons per year” and knew it had to be bogus. Yep, it’s bogus, all right. The article got the units wrong. The 108 part is right, but it’s not tons, but rather GIGATONS, meaning growth was 108,000,000,000 tons/year.
CFP cites a Climate Depot article. Dig down and you’ll find it says:
Gt=Gigaton
It’s a bit disconcerting to see that someone found the news sufficiently noteworthy to write an article about it, but was so ignorant about the subject that they were perfectly OK with getting the key, the main, number WRONG BY NINE ORDERS OF MAGNITUDE. Sheesh.
WTF? Doesn’t Colorado have a concealed carry permit? I just checked, my AZ permit has restrictions. Probably means you can’t pull your gun out of its holster. Yeah, that would solve a lot of problems.
Al, good catch. I saw the same thing but I didn’t investigate further. 108 metric tons isn’t even measureable in a land mass like Antarctica!

Just renewed my AZ non resident CCW. There’s a really good web site that defines each states restrictions for carry permits. I’ll send it.
Antarctica. The only continent that looks like a White Rhino’s squashed head.
Re: Continents. South America used to be connected to its Birth Mother, North America by an umbilical cord that is called the Isthmus of Panama.
In 1914 the cord was finally cut with the opening of the Panama Canal (not to be confused with the Birth Canal).
Not to go into details, but Scandinavia + Finland looks like uh…slightly deformed male parts…not sure what Denmark is, except maybe a part that was removed.
@Jerry M — Don’t forget the junior continent:
Australia, the Windshield Bug of the South.
Great catch on the numbers!
I’d be inclined to call them on even claiming three significant digits on accuracy and precision.

Now that we have active volcanoes again, perhaps rather than throwing money at Green Weenie Grift, we can start throwing women into volcanoes to appease the Earth gods. Suggest starting with the blue, green, and pink haired ones.
Throwing militant trannies into volcanos would also work.

If that double-headed Scandinavia whanger turns to the southeast, it could easily penetrate the estuaries of the Bug and Oder Rivers simultaneously.
